Hallgassunk tengerésznótát! 20.

- 19. La Carmeline

Legyen most egy francia tengerésznóta, a La Carmeline...

Pompe pompe pompe donc
Pour assécher la sapine
Pompe pompe pompe donc
Pour assécher le ponton

Hallgassunk tengerésznótát 18. - The Pogues - Greenland Whale Fisheries

The Pogues - Greenland Whale Fisheries

A nóta szövege:

In eighteen hundred and forty-six
On March the eighteenth day
We hoisted our colors to the top of the mast

And for Greenland sailed away, brave boys
And for Greenland sailed away

The lookout in the cross trees stood
With spyglass in his hand
There's a whale, there's a whale
And a whale fish he cried

And she blows at every span, brave boys
And she blows at every span

The captain stood on the quarter deck
The ice was in his eye
Overhaul, overhaul, let your gib sheets fall

And you'll put your boats to sea, brave boys
And you'll put your boats to sea

Our harpoon struck and the line played out
With a single flourish of his tail
He capsized the boat and we lost five men

And we did not catch the whale, brave boys
And we did not catch the whale

The losing of those five jolly men
It grieved the captain sore
But the losing of that fine whale fish

Now it grieved him ten times more, brave boys
Now it grieved him ten times more

Now Greenland is a barren land
A land that bares no green
Where there's ice and snow
And the whale fishes blow

And the daylight's seldom seen, brave boys
And the daylight's seldom seen

Hallgassunk tengerésznótát: 18. Greenland Whale Fisheries by The Pogues

A The Pogues együttes verzióját mutatom meg.

In eighteen hundred and forty-six
And of March the eighteenth day,

And for Greenland sailed away, brave boys,
And for Greenland sailed away.

The lookout in the crosstrees stood

There's a whale, there's a whale,
And a whalefish he cried
And she blows at every span, brave boys
She blows at every span.

Hallgassunk tengerésznótát: 17. John Kanaka (US shanty)

I heard, I heard the old man say, hey
John kanaka kanaka tura yay,
Today is a holiday
John kanaka kanaka tura yay,
Tura yay, oh, tura yay,
John kanaka kanaka tura yay,
We’ll work tomorrow, but not today
John kanaka kanaka tura yay,
We’ll work tomorrow, but not today
John kanaka kanaka tura yay,
Tura yay, oh, tura yay,
We’re bout aaway from frisko bay
John kanaka kanaka tura yay,
We’re bout away the break of day
John kanaka kanaka tura yay,
Tura yay, oh, tura yay
John kanaka kanaka tura yay,
Hal away, oh hal away
John kanaka kanaka tura yay,
Oh hal away and earn your pay
John kanaka kanaka tura yay,
Tura yay, oh, tura yay
John kanaka kanaka tura yay.

Hallgassunk tengerésznótát! - 16 Muirsheen Durkin by Irish Rovers

In the days when I was courting, I was never tired resorting
To the alehouse and the playhouse, and the other house besides.
But I told my brother Seamus, "I'll be off now and grow famous
And before that I return again, I'll roam the whole world wide."
So, it's goodbye Mrs. Durkin, I'm sick and tired of workin'.
No more I'll dig your praties, no longer I'll be poor.
As sure as my name is Barney, I'm off to Califarny.
Instead of digging praties, I'll be digging lumps of gold.

Well, I've courted girls in Blarney, in Antrim and Killarney,
In Dublin and in Kerry, down to the coves of Cork.
But I'm tired of all this pleasure, so now I'll take my leisure.
And the next time that you hear from me, I'll write you from new York.

So, it's goodbye Mrs. Durkin, I'm sick and tired of workin'.
No more I'll dig your praties, no longer I'll be poor.

As sure as my name is Barney, I'm off to Califarny.
Instead of digging praties, I'll be digging lumps of gold.

When I landed in America, I met a man named Burke.
He told me if I'd stay a while, he'd surely find me work.
But work he didn't find me, so there's nothing here to bind me.
I'm bound for San Francisco, in Califor-ni-yay!

So, it's goodbye Mrs. Durkin, I'm sick and tired of workin'.
No more I'll dig your praties, no longer I'll be poor.
As sure as my name is Barney, I'm off to Califarny.
Instead of digging praties, I'll be digging lumps of gold.
Well, I'm now in San Francisco, and my fortune it is made.
My pockets loaded down with gold, I'll throw away my spade.
I'll go back to dear old Erin, spend my fortune never carin'.
I'll marry Queen Victori', Mrs. Durkin for to spite.

So, it's goodbye Mrs. Durkin, I'm sick and tired of workin'.
No more I'll dig your praties, no longer I'll be poor.
As sure as my name is Barney, I'm off to Califarny.
Instead of digging praties, I'll be digging lumps of gold.

Hallgassunk tengerésznótát! - 15. Go To Sea No More by Irish Sea Sessions

One theory is that this song originates from the British Merchant Navy way back. Whether it was originally penned by an Irish, English, Scottish or Welsh crew is not known. Possibly a collaboration? Many folk songs get changed slightly over the years and different versions then become Irish, Scottish or whatever. Another theory is that it originates from the USA (San Francisco) and the original writer could be from almost anywhere! Basically it is a good folk song with advice for seafaring men from all around the world!

When first I landed in Liverpool I went upon a spree Me money alas I spent it fast Got drunk as drunk could be And when that me money was all gone 'Twas then I wanted more But a man must be blind to make up his mind To go to sea once more Once more, boys, once more Go to sea once more But a man must be blind to make up his mind To go to sea once more I spent the night with Angeline Too drunk to roll in bed Me watch was new and me money too In the morning with them she fled And as I walked the streets about The whores they all did roar There goes Jack Spratt, the poor sailorlad He must go to sea once more Once more, boys, once more Go to sea once more There goes Jack Spratt, the poor sailorlad He must go to sea once more And as I walked the streets about I met with the Rapper Brown I asked him for to take me on And he looked at me with a frown He said last time you was paid off With me you could no score But I'll give you a chance and I'll take your advance And I'll send you to see once more Once more, boys, once more Send you to sea once more I'll give you a chance and I'll take your advance And I'll send you to see once more He shipped me on board of a whaling ship Bound for the arctic seas Where the cold winds blow through the frost and snow And Jamaica rum would freeze But worse to bear, I'd no hard weather gear For I'd spent all money on shore 'Twas then that I wished that I was dead And could go to sea no more No more, boys, no more Go to sea no more 'Twas then that I wished that I was dead And could go to sea no more So come all you bold sea faring men Who listen to me song When you come off them long trips I'll have you not go wrong Take my advice, drink no strong drink Don't go sleeping with them whores Get married instead and spend all night in bed And go to sea no more No more, boys, no more Go to sea no more Get married instead and spend all night in bed And go to sea no more

Hallgassunk tengerésznótát: 14. Drunken Sailor - Irish Rovers

Fiddler's Green by The Dubliners

Nézzük, mit ír róla a Wikipédia:

As I roved by the dockside one evening so fair
To view the salt waters and take in the salt air
I heard an old fisherman singing a song
Oh, take me away boys me time is not long

Wrap me up in me oilskin and blankets
No more on the docks I'll be seen
Just tell me old shipmates, I'm taking a trip mates
And I'll see you someday on Fiddlers Green

Now Fiddler's Green is a place I've heard tell
Where the fishermen go if they don't go to hell
Where the weather is fair and the dolphins do play
And the cold coast of Greenland is far, far away

Now when you're in dock and the long trip is through
There's pubs and there's clubs and there's lassies there too
And the girls are all pretty and the beer is all free
And there's bottles of rum growing on every tree.

Where the skies are all clear and there's never a gail
And the fish jump on board with one swish on their tail
Where you lie at your leisure, there's no work to do
And the skipper's below making tea for the crew

Now I don't want a harp nor a halo, not me
Just give me a breeze and a good rolling sea
I'll play me old squeeze-box as we sail along
With the wind in the riggin to sing me a song

Hallgassunk tengerésznótát: 12. Oh Shenandoah

A feleségem egyik kedvenc tengerésznótája.

Oh, Shenandoah, I long to see you
'Way, you rolling river
Oh, Shenandoah, I long to see you
'Way, I'm bound away
'Cross the wide Missouri

Oh, Shenandoah, I love your daughter
'Way, you rolling river
For her I cross your roaming waters
Away
I'm bound away
'Cross the wide Missouri

'Tis seven long years since last I've seen you
And hear your roaming river
'Tis seven long years
since last I've seen you
Away,
We're bound away
'Cross the wide Missouri

Ooo... Doo doo ooo... Ahh...

Oh, Shenandoah's my native valley
'Way, you rolling river
Oh, Shenandoah's
my native valley
Away, We're bound away
'Cross the wide Missouri.

Einmal Noch Nach Bombay

Hallgassunk megint német tengerésznótát.

Hans Albers: Einmal Noch Nach Bombay

Wieder in St. Pauli, mien Hsmburg Altona. Wieder in St. Pauli, in Hamburg Altona.

A horgonyhúzásnál a matrózok monoton munkáját hivatott könnyíteni.

The smartest clipper you can find is
Ho-way, ho, are you 'most done?
She's the Margaret Evans of the Blue Star Line
Clear away the track an' let the bullgine run!

[Chorus]
To me hey rig-a-jig in a jaunting gun
Ho-way, ho, are you 'most done?
With Liza Lee all on my knee
Clear away the track an' let the bullgine run!

O, we're outward bound for the West Street Pier
Ho-way, ho, are you 'most done?
With Galway shale and Liverpool beer
Clear away the track an' let the bullgine run!

[Chorus]

Ah, and when we're out in New York Town
Ho-way, ho, are you 'most done?
We'll dance them Bowery girls around!
Clear away the track an' let the bullgine run!

[Chorus]

Oh! the Margaret Evans of the Blue Star Line
Ho-way, ho, are you 'most done?
She's never a day behind her time!
Clear away the track an' let the bullgine run!

[Chorus]

O, and when we're back in Liverpool town
Ho-way, ho, are you 'most done?
We'll stand ya's whiskeys all around!
Clear away the track an' let the bullgine run!

[Chorus]

Ah, when I was a young man, in my prime
Ho-way, ho, are you 'most done?
I'd knock them Scouse girls two at a time
Clear away the track an' let the bullgine run!

[Chorus]

Oh, one more pull and that will do!
Ho-way, ho, are you 'most done?
For we're the boys to kick her through!
Clear away the track an' let the bullgine run!

[Chorus]

Hallgassunk tengerésznótát: 09. Fire marengo

Lift him up and carry him along
    Fire Maringo, fire away!
Put him down where he belong
    Fire Maringo, fire away!

Stow him in his hole below,
Say he must and then he'll go.

When I get back to Liverpool Town,
I'll pass a line to little Sally Brown.

I'll haul her high and I'll haul her low,
I'll bust her blocks and I'll make her go.

Oh, Sally, she's a pretty little craft,
Hot shot to the fore and a rounded aft.

Screw the cotton, screw him down.
Let's get the hell from the Hilo Town.

Hallgassunk tengerésznótát: 8. Blow The Man Down

Come all ye young fellows that follow the sea
To me weigh hey blow the man down
And pray pay attention and listen to me
Give me some time to blow the man down

I'm a deep water sailor just in from Hong Kong
To me weigh hey blow the man down
If you'll give me some rum I'll sing you a song
Give me some time to blow the man down

T'was on a Black Baller I first spent my time
To me weigh hey blow the man down
And on that Black Baller I wasted my prime
Give me some time to blow the man down

T'is when a Black Baller's preparing for sea
To me weigh hey blow the man down
You'd split your sides laughing at the sights that you see
Give me some time to blow the man down

With the tinkers and tailors and soldiers and all
To me weigh hey blow the man down
That ship for prime seamen onboard a Black Ball
Give me some time to blow the man down

T'is when a Black Baller is clear of the land
To me weigh hey blow the man down
Our boatswain then gives us the word of command
Give me some time to blow the man down

A következő feldolgozásnál nincs más dolgod, mint meredni a képernyőre, mert a szöveget mutatja:

Az alábbi verzió szövegét megint külön követheted:

As I was out walkin' down Paradise street, To me way, hey, blow the man down! A pretty young damsel I chanced for to meet, Give me some time to blow the man down! She was round in the counter and bluff in the bow So I took in all sail and cried "way enough now" I hailed her in English, she answered me clear "I'm from the Black Arrow bound to the Shakespeare" So I tailed her my flipper and took her in tow And yard-arm to yard-arm, away we did go But as we were a-going she said unto me "There's a spankin' full rigger just ready for sea" That spankin' full rigger to New York was bound She was very well mannered and very well found But as soon as that packet was clear of the bar The mate knocked me down with the end of a spar As soon as that packet was out on the sea 'Twas devilish hard treatment of every degree So I give you fair warning before we belay Don't never take heed of what pretty girls say.

A következő szövegét megint a képernyőn követheted:

Rolling Home

Mit Namen heet he Magellon
Dor weer bi Dog keen Tied tom Brassen
Dat leet se al bit Obends stohn!

Roling home, rolling home
Rolling home across the sea
Rolling home to di old Hamborg
Rolling home, mien Deern to di!

Bi Dag dor kunn dat weihn un blosen
Do weer noch lang keen Hand anleggt
Doch slegt de Klock erstmol veer Glosen
Donn weer de ganze Plünnkram steckt!

Roling home, rolling home
Rolling home across the sea
Rolling home to di old Hamborg
Rolling home, mien Deern to di!

Dat weer so recht den Ohln sien Freeten –
Dat gung em öber Danz un Ball –
Darr Janmaat grod de Piep ansteken
Dan rööp de Ohl: "Pull Grootmarsfall!“

Roling home, rolling home
Rolling home across the sea
Rolling home to di old Hamborg
Rolling home, mien Deern to di!

Dat kunn de Kerl verdeubelt ropen
Dat weer em just so no'n Strich
Man schraal de Wind denn noch sechs Streeken –
Wat weer der Kerl denn gnatterich

Roling home, rolling home
Rolling home across the sea
Rolling home to di old Hamborg
Rolling home, mien Deern to di!

Roling home, rolling home
Rolling home across the sea
Rolling home to di old Hamborg
Rolling home, mien Deern to di!

Roling home, rolling home
Rolling home across the sea
Rolling home to di old Hamborg
Rolling home, mien Deern to di!

Hallgassunk tengerésznótát: 6. Shanty for sjømannskjerka

A norvég szöveg után megtalálod a fordítását by gugli...

Shanty for sjømannskjerka (D.D.E. & Alexander Stöckl)

Jula b'ynt bestandig i september
Når'a mamma pakka gavan som'a seinnt
Gikk tankan som snarast over havet
Te sjømannskirka der det og va fæst

Hallgassunk tengerésznótát: 5. A Sailor Ain't A Sailor

Don't haul on the ropes,
Don't climb up the mast,
If you see a sailing ship it might be your last.
Get your Civvis aready for another run ashore,
A sailor aint a sailor aint a sailor anymore.

Well my father often told me when I was just a lad,
A sailors life was very hard,
The food was always bad.
But now I've joined the navy am abord a Man o' war,
Now I found a sailor aint a sailor anymore.

Don't haul on the ropes,
Don't climb up the mast,
If you see a sailing ship it might be your last.
Get your Civvis aready for another run ashore,
A sailor aint a sailor aint a sailor anymore.

Well the killy cover mess says we have it soft, it wasn't like that in his day,
when we were up aloft.
We like our bunks and sleeping bags, whats a hammok for?
swinging from the deck head or lying on the floor.

Don't haul on the ropes,
Don't climb up the mast,
If you see a sailing ship it might be your last. Get your Civvis aready for another run ashore,
A sailor aint a sailor aint a sailor anymore.

Well they gave us an engine that first went up and down,
then with more technology the engine went around.
We now steam and desil but whats it mainly for? A stoker aint a stoker with a shovel anymore.

Don't haul on the ropes,
Don't climb up the mast,
If you see a sailing ship it might be your last. Get your Civvis aready for another run ashore,
a sailor aint a sailor aint a sailor anymore.

Well they gave us a norestump so we could do it right,
they gave us a radio we signal day and night.
We know our code and cypher so whats the semaphore?
A bump n glass a dozen aint a toss anymore.

Don't haul on the ropes,
Don't climb up the mast,
If you see a sailing ship it might be your last. Get your Civvis aready for another run ashore,
a sailor aint a sailor aint a sailor anymore.

Two cans of beer a day and thats you're bleeding lot.
But now we have an extra one becuase we stopped the tot.
So, we'll put on our civvie clothes for another run ashore,
a sailors just a sailor, just like he was before.

Don't haul on the ropes,
Don't climb up the mast,
If you see a sailing ship it might be your last. Get your Civvis aready for another run ashore,
a sailor aint a sailor aint a sailor anymore.

Don't haul on the ropes,
Don't climb up the mast,
If you see a sailing ship it might be your last. Get your Civvis aready for another run ashore
a sailor aint a sailor aint a sailor anymore.

Hallgassunk tengerésznótákat: 4. Roll The Old Chariot Along

Többet róla a honlapján.

Roll The Old Chariot Along
Oh, we'd be alright if the wind was in our sails
We'd be alright if the wind was in our sails
We'd be alright if the wind was in our sails
And we'll all hang on behind...
And we'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
We'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
We'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
And we'll all hang on behind!
Oh, we'd be alright if we make it round The Horn
We'd be alright if we make it round The Horn
We'd be alright if we make it round The Horn
And we'll all hang on behind...
And we'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
We'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
We'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
And we'll all hang on behind!
Well a night on the town wouldn't do us any harm
A night on the town wouldn't do us any harm
Oh, a night on the town wouldn't do us any harm
And we'll all hang on behind...
And we'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
We'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
We'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
And we'll all hang on behind!
Now, another festival wouldn't do us any harm
Oh, another festival wouldn't do us any harm
Woah, another festival wouldn't do us any harm
And we'll all hang on behind...
And we'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
We'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
We'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
And we'll all hang on behind!
And we'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
We'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
We'll ro-o-oll the old chariot along!
And we'll all hang on behind..

Hallgassunk tengerésznótákat: 3. The Maid of Amsterdam (A Rovin')

Folytatom a beetetést!
Egy olvasó megoldotta a rejtélyt: The Maid of Amsterdam by Nils Brown, Michiel Schrey, Sean Dagher

Maid of Amsterdam

In Amsterdam there lived a maid,
Mark well what I do say!
In Amsterdam there lived a maid,
And she was mistress of her trade.
I'll go no more a-roving with you fair maid!
(Chorus)
A roving, a roving,
Since roving's been my ru-i-in,
I'll go no more a roving,
With you fair maid!
I asked this maid to take a walk,
Mark well what I do say!
I asked this maid out for a walk,
That we might have some private talk.
I'll go no more a roving with you fair maid!
(Chorus)
Then a great big Dutchman rammed my bow,
Mark well what I do say!
For a great big Dutchman rammed my bow,
And said "Young man, dees ees meine frau!"
I'll go no more a roving with you fair maid!
(Chorus)
Then take fair warning boys from me,
Mark well what I do say!
So take fair warning boys from me
With other men's wives, don't make too free
I'll go no more a roving with you fair maid!
(Chorus)

Hallgassunk tengerésznótákat: 2. Bosun's Alphabet

Ismered az ABC-t? Elhiszem! De ismered-e a fedélzetmester ABC-jét? Bár szerintem jobb a tengerész abécé fordítás.

A's for the anchor that lies at our bow
B's for the bowsprit and the jibs all lie low
C's for the capstan we all run around
D's for the davits to lower the boat down
(Chorus)
Merrily, merrily
So merry sail we, no mortal on earth like a sailor at sea
Heave away, haul away, the ship rolls along
Give a sailor his grog and there's nothing goes wrong
E's for the ensign that at our mast flew
F's for the forecastle where lives our crew
G's for the galley where the salt junk smells strong
And H is the halyards we hoist with a song
(Chorus)
I's for the eyebolts, good for the feet
J's for the jibs that stand by the lee sheet
K's for the knighthead where the petty officer stands
L's for the leeside, hard found by new hands
(Chorus)
M's for the mainmast, it's stout and it's strong
N's for the needle that never points wrong
O's for the oars of our old jolly boats
And P's for the pinnace that lively do float
(Chorus)
Q's for the quarterdeck where our officers stand
And R's for the rudder that keeps the ship in command
S is for the stunsells that drive her along
T's for the topsail, to get there takes long
(Chorus)
U's for the uniform, mostly worn aft
V's for the vangs running from the main gap
W's for water, we're on a pint and a pound
And X marks the spot where old Stormy was drowned
(Chorus)
Y's for yardarm, needs a good sailor man
Z is for Zoe, I'm her fancy man
Z's also for zero in the cold winter time
And now we have brought all the letters in rhyme
(Chorus)
